Happy belated Women’s Day! Even though I feel that a day isn’t enough to celebrate and acknowledge the worthiness of a woman, but I’ll take it 😁. Being a woman is hard!!!!! I’m not shy to admit that they’re lots of tears involved in this process. The lessons haven’t been easy at all and I feel I still have a long way to go till I understand why being female comes with a lot more hardships.
One thing I do love about women though is our nurturing spirit. We were given the gift of wanting to take care of people even when we get nothing in return. We all have a purpose and through that purpose we build our character as well as that of others.
The show is the brainchild of Favor Marie Chatupa from Favoured Marie Events Management who was inspired to do this when she visited female correctional prisons in Lusaka and Kabwe and was saddened by the poor sanitation the inmates have to succumb to on a daily basis. Worse still, when they are pregnant or breast-feeding, their babies don’t have diapers, medicines or simple baby formula. The rooms have no mosquito nets. Basically it’s a disaster.
In Favor’s words, ” We intend to have this event every year. Our vision for this event is to create awareness and also to raise funds. I am very passionate over the project because it’s intended to raise funds for mothers and children in prisons so as to make it possible for us to purchase clothes, toys and other necessities for them. I’m a mother of three and I would really love for these children to have their needs met just as i would love for my children to be provided for. Very few people are aware of what mothers and children have go through in prisons so we thought of creating a platform for them.”
